During Hot August Nights, Cars are “Cherry” and Cruisin’ is “Cool”!

The Biggest Little City shifts into high gear for Hot August Nights, the largest classic car and nostalgic event in the country! Thousands of visitors come to pay tribute to the exquisitely powerful automobiles and electrifying music of the 50’s, 60’s and early 70’s.  The world’s premier classic car event, Hot August Nights showcases more than 6,000 vehicles from this golden era of design with events all over Reno and Sparks.  Restored hot rods and sexy muscle cars give enthusiasts a first-hand experience of popular decades done by.

Don’t forget to gas up before you hit the road at any of Sierra Car Care and MST Tire Centers four local gas stations. If your run into any trouble while out there on the road; flat tires, overheating, A/C troubles just come on in and we will get you back on the road quick. Need roadside service, give us a call. Entertainment Line-Up

AutoCross and Drifting (new motorsport added to the line-up)
Filling the air with a different sort of engine roar and tire squeal,check out the new AutoCross & Drifting presented by Amsoil at the Reno Livestock Events Center!  Drifting began in Japan decades ago,novice and professional drifters take to the course showing off their oversteering and maneuvering skills on slicks. Entrance to Swap Meet,  AutoCross & Drifting presented by Amsoil is $10/day; a pit pass is only $10 more.

Dazzling Diva (new to line-up)
The newest venue for the ladies.  It will feature more than 200 booth of ladies clothing, accessories and jewelry. Held at the Reno Ballroom, Aug 3-6, 10am-5pm.

MAG Auction (new auction company)
Motorsport Auction Group is a collector car auction featuring muscle cars, street rods, classic cars, vintage cars, and leading automobile products. This is a great event for car enthusiasts looking to buy or sell rare automobiles. Among the featured automobiles is a 1939 General Motors Futurliner Bus, which measures 33ft long.  The auction takes place at the RSCC, Aug 4-6.

Stay warm while your zombies, princesses and action heroes collect their treats this Halloween with these SAFE trick-or-treating locations. Or you can enjoy the fright night with these haunted house locations around town.

We would also like to remind all drivers to stay alert and remember kids will be out in full force this Halloween, so drive carefully. Also, for those parents that like to drive to different hot spot locations around Reno/Sparks, don’t forget to fill up your gas tank at Sierra Car Care and MST Tire Centers before you go.


Trick-or-Treat in the Streets of the National Automobile MuseumNational Auto Museum
Thursday, October 31, 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. – Trick or Treat in the Streets will be at Reno’s National Automobile Museum. While the children play games and collect candy at stations throughout the museum, parents will be able to enjoy more than 200 cars and authentic street scenes with facades, cars and artifacts. Entertainment will feature Jim Meitz, Reno’s premier magician and author of the children’s book “The Amazing Alexander.” Special admission: $2 per person. Safe Trick or Treating at the Nevada Humane SocietyHowl-O-Ween Poster 10-21-13 Final
Thursday, October 31, 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. – Bring the family to Nevada Humane Society for Safe Trick-or-Treating with lots of free treats for kids in costume. Sip on hot chocolate and apple cider while enjoying spooky music and décor. Visit with pets and people in Halloween costumes. You can even adopt a four-legged goblin. It’s safe fun for the whole family and a great way to celebrate Halloween with homeless pets. You can even adopt a four-legged friend. Trunk or Treat at Comstock Park
Thursday, October 31, 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. – For this FREE event come in costume and travel from trunk to trunk and get all the candy your bags can handle. Halloween Egg Hunt at Legends
Thursday, October 31, 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. – Bring the kids (ages 1 to 10 years) for a free Halloween egg hunt starting at 5 p.m. Children will be broken out into age groups for the egg hunt. There will be trick – or – treating afterwards throughout the Outlets at Legends in Sparks. Wear your costumes (please, no masks) and get lots of candy. There will be a costume contest with prizes for the best three. Legends is located at 1310 Scheels Drive in Sparks.

Johnstone Studios 3rd Annual Trick or Treat for SPCA of Northern Nevada5.5"X8.5" Post Card Template
Wednesday and Thursday, October 30 and 31, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Johnstone Studios will be holding their 3rd annual Halloween photos trick or treat to benefit the SPCA of Northern Nevada. Bring in your kids and/or animals in costumes and, with a donation to the SPCA, get a free 5 x 7 print. The minimum value of the donation is $20 and can include such items as cash, new towels, Kong dog toys, spray bottles, duct tape, packages of paper towels and hand wipes, folding chairs, sturdy dog leashes and harnesses, dog and cat beds, treats, and collars. It is a first come, first serve basis, so get there early. There will be fun games and raffle prizes throughout the event.  Johnstone Studios is located at 720 Tahoe Street in Reno. Halloween Carnival in Sparks
Saturday, October 26, 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. – This Halloween Carnival will be at ManorCare, 2350 Wingfield Hills Road in Sparks. Free activities include pumpkin toss, tattoos, pumpkin bowling, apple bobbing, costume contest, cookie decorating, cake walk, and trick-or-treating. There will be caramel popcorn balls and bottled water for 50 cents, and a haunted house for $3 per person, $5 for two, and $10 for four. For more information, call (775) 335-8275.

Halloween Activities at the Washoe County Library
There will be a variety of free Halloween activities for kids and families at various branches of the Washoe County Library System…

  • Sparks Library, Saturday, October 26, 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. – Making Potions. Bring a small, clean glass bottle with a lid and enough clear hand sanitizer to fill the bottle. We’ll show you how to add color, glitter, dried lizard tails, monster eyeballs and lots of other fun stuff to your potion. Seal it with colored wax and add a spooky label and you’ll finish off your one-of-a-kind creation.
  • Spanish Springs Library, Sunday, October 27, 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. – Pumpkin Carving. Bring your own scooped-out pumpkin and turn it into a Halloween masterpiece with help from our carving experts. All ages welcome.
  • North Valleys Library, Tuesday, October 29, 4:30 p.m. – Halloween Parade. Wear your costumes and join us for our 25th annual Trick or Treating Parade. We will be Trick or Treating throughout the North Hills Shopping Center.
  • North Valleys Library, Wednesday, October 30, 11:15 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. – Halloween Story Time. Wear your costumes to this special Halloween story time. After reading some spooky stories, we will Trick or Treat through the library and play some fun games.
  • Sparks Library, Wednesday, October 30, 10:15 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. – Halloween Story Time. Readers beware! Wear your costumes and join in some spooky fun. We will be reading Halloween stories and making crafts. To finish off the fun, we will be trick – or – treating throughout the library.
  • Incline Village Library, Wednesday, October 30, 4 p.m. to 4:45 p.m. – Halloween Story Time. Get in the Halloween mood as we read scary stories and do a fun craft. There might even be some treats! Be sure to wear your costume.
  • Spanish Springs Library, Thursday, October 31, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. – Trick or Treat at the Library. It’s Halloween and if you’re wearing a costume, we’re inviting you to Trick or Treat at the Library during our open hours. Happy Halloween!UNR_Volleyball Match

No Halloween plans yet? Wear your costume to the volleyball match on Thursday to take part in our costume contest and you could win a prize. There will be candy for all fans that are dressed up.

Frightmare 2013

Frightmare is Northern Nevada’s Largest Haunted event. Conceived by two of the most recognized names in the industry, Frightmare has entertained more than 100,000 guests here in the Reno, Sparks area. Frightmare is located at Victorian Square in Sparks, next to the Century Theaters. 1250 Victorian Avenue, Sparks, NV.

Reno Forklift Haunted House
Reno Forklifts is holding a haunted house in which some of the donated proceeds will be going to Sparks Middle School. The haunted house is located at 171 Coney Island Dr. From October 29 – Nov. 1 from 6pm-9:30pm. Admission is free and all donations are welcome. Canned food donations are accepted as well

Reno Fright Fest Present Slaughter House
The “SLAUGHTER HOUSE” is Northern Nevada’s LARGEST EVER indoor Haunted House.  This year, our over 18,000 square foot Haunt undergoes a FULL REDESIGN from previous years as we set out to entertain thousands of eager customers with new, never seen before rooms, custom scares, and terrifying scenes that will have our guests running for the door. Remaining haunting dates are October 31 – November 3. Hours are 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. and open Late on Halloween! Located Beneath the Rise Night Club,Corner of 2nd and Sierra in Downtown Reno 210 N. Sierra Street. Tickets are only available at the door for $13. If you just can’t wait to be scared, a Speed Pass for $20 moves you to the front of the line. The Speed Pass and group tickets (20 or more) can be purchased at the door or in advance by calling (775) 885-6999.Plenty of FREE PARKING at the Parking Gallery Garage.

Kingdom of Horrors
Kingdom of Horrors is billed as Reno’s scariest haunted house, so be forewarned. The haunting is based on the story of spooky stuff that went on at a Kilburn Estate deep in some swamp (see the website for the story), like people disappearing and having their souls stolen. Kingdom of Horrors is located at 515 E. 7th Street in Reno, next to Roller Kingdom. Open from 6 p.m. to as long as the crowd lasts this Halloween, and November 1 – 2. Admission is $12, or $15 for a Skip The Line Pass. Get a $2 discount by bringing an empty RockStar energy drink container. The information phone number is (775) 682-0998.

Once again we begin Reno’s Hot August Nights! The plethora of events taking place in Reno and Sparks in August make it a hot spot for visitors from around the world, near and far alike. The biggest little city is an exciting place to be! The events, festivals, and concerts are some of the best attributes this city has to offer. They allow us to share our city with travelers from all over.

We are currently wrapping up July’s amazing Artown events to bring us into the long awaited Hot August Nights. It’s the largest classic car event in the country and participants span the entire region.

Our classic car appreciation is shown all year long at Sierra Car Care and MST Tire Center. We display are classics in front of the stations, to share our deep roots in the automobile industry. We love this time of year!

Classic Car Sierra Car CareCome and enjoy the event with the whole family! You will see restored hot rods, muscle cars, classic cars, some with hoods open and some cruisin.
