Reno Youth Jazz Orchestra
Gas for Goodness: Supporting Our Community
Reno Youth Jazz OrchestraEvery Wednesday this July, we’ll make a ($.01) penny donation to Reno Youth Jazz Orchestra, a local nonprofit,  for every gallon of gas sold from our Sierra Car Care/MST Tire Centers.  And we’ll donate $1.00 per tire sold each Saturday at MST Tire Center.

The Reno Youth Jazz Orchestra (RYJO) is a 501(c) (3) nonprofit organization established in 2006. Their mission is to assemble, by audition, the top middle and high school Jazz talent in the Reno-Sparks-Carson-Tahoe communities in order to provide opportunities for the performance, preservation, appreciation, and study of JAZZ.

Non-Profit Organizations we have
supported in the past, with the
Gas for Goodness Program.

There are so many worthwhile local causes that we would love to support, but we cannot seem to keep up with all of them. That is where you come in, we need your help!

We would like to find a different charity each month that supports our community in a beneficial and rewarding way. If you are part of a charity or would like to nominate a charity for us to consider for our Gas for Goodness program, please submit your suggestion at our Main Office through our online form.

Each charity chosen will be highlighted in our monthly e-mail newsletter, Facebook, and blog article to further publicize the program, cause, event, or charity. Our goal is to work with you to get the word out about your cause and give back to our community at the same time.

Please refer your favorite causes, programs, charities, organizations so that we may extend our financial support. Together we can help build a better world.

Send more than one recommendation as we will need more for the future as well. Thank you for your time and continued support.

Do you understand how your vehicle’s brake system works? The brake system is one of the most critical safety systems in your vehicle. The quality of your brake’s is also important, especially when driving in the ice, snow, and slush. But, do you understand how your vehicle’s brake system works?

How does the brake system work? How Do Brakes Work?
You may have heard terms thrown around, like; “caliper”, “drum brakes”, “hydraulic system”, but do you understood how they work together from pushing the brake pedal to stopping the car? A very basic explanation is as follows:

  • When you push the brake pedal it depresses a piston, which then creates hydraulic pressure in the master cylinder, forcing fluid along the pipe.
  • The brake fluid travels to slave cylinders at each wheel and fills them, forcing pistons out to apply the brakes.
  • Fluid pressure distributes itself evenly around the system.
  • The calipers and wheel cylinders use that pressure to squeeze the brake pads and/or shoes against rotors and/or drums to stop your car.

There are different types of brakes: Disc and Drum. Disc Braking Systems are typically used on more expensive or high-performance cars, while Drum Braking Systems are used on older or smaller cars

Trouble Signs and Symptoms
Brakes are a normal wear item for any car and will eventually need replacement. If you are experiencing any of the following symptoms or have any other concerns or issues with your vehicle, please contact Sierra Car Care and MST Tire Center and we will be happy to help:

  • Car pulls to one side during braking
  • Brake pedal pulsates when you apply the brakes
  • Brake pedal feels “mushy”
  • Noise when you step on the brake pedal
  • Repeatedly need to add brake fluid to the
    master cylinder
  • Brake and/or ABS warning light

In the event of an emergency, we will schedule your vehicle at one of our 5 service repair shops in the Reno and Sparks area. Let us know if you need Roadside Assistance. Our goal is to guide you through the diagnostics and repair process and to get you safely back on the road.

what is a brake system flush?Brake System Flush
Another important part of your brake system is the brake fluid quality. It is vital that the brake fluid in the system remains clean and clear of debris. With a brake system flush, the hydraulic fluid in the brake reservoir, lines, and other parts of the system will be removed and replaced with fresh fluid.

Our warranty covers all parts and labor for 36 months or 36,000 miles, whichever comes first.

We know there are a lot of choices out there for auto repair, it is our privilege to serve you and your vehicle. We’re proud of our top notch workmanship and high quality parts. You can take confidence in that when you get back on the road.

Shop Local at Sierra Car Care and MST Tire CenterAs you shop this holiday season, remember to support local business. By shopping at locally owned businesses, you help to boost our local economy and sometimes your own wallet. Let me explain how.

Buy Local – Support Yourself
When purchasing from a locally owned business, rather than from
a nationally owned business, significantly more of your money
is re-circulated on the local level through business-to-business
purchases, increased labor force, and promotional offers, which helps
to strengthen the economic  base
of the community.

Don’t just Shop – Invest & Create Jobs
When you shop any locally owned independent business, you are investing
in our local economy with everything you buy. This investment helps build
a strong local job market by increasing the need for employees, while
encouraging competitive consumer prices.

Buy Local – Support the Community
An average of 250% more support is provided for non-profit organizations
and local charities from small local business owners than from large companies.
At Sierra Car Care and MST Tire Center we are dedicated to giving back
to our local community. A portion of your purchase at the pump on
Wednesdays and tires on Saturdays (at Mill Street location only) is donated
to a different local charity every month.

You see, by choosing to pump local at any of our full service Sierra Car Care
gas stations or purchasing tires from MST Tire Center, you are helping to keep
money in our local economy and  boost the job market.

We, at Sierra Car Care and MST Tire Centers would like to offer you our
Customer Loyalty Bonus when you Shop Local. So, remember us when
shopping for your family this holiday season and  you could save:

Buy any $100 Gift Card for only $90
or any $50 Gift Card for $45

Our goal is to build a strong, vibrant community that offers the value, the
professionalism and the services you need for all your vehicle maintenance
needs. We look forward to serving you! Happy Holidays!

Shop local. Buy local. Support local.
